What Does the Montana Human Rights Bureau Enforce?
The staff from the Montana Human Rights Bureau will explain what could be considered illegal discrimination under the Montana Human Rights Act and how employers can reduce their liability exposure. They will also explain the most common claims they receive and laws they enforce. Topics to be covered include:
* What are the unique protected classes in Montana?
* What could be considered illegal discrimination?
* Is sexual harassment the only type of harassment that I need to be aware of?
* Does the MT Human Rights Act apply during an employees probationary period? Can I hire or fire for any reason?
* How do employers comply with state law as well as the Americans with Disabilities Act?
* What is a legitimate business necessity?
* Does an employer have to provide everything an employee requests as a reasonable accommodation?
