About Us... This quaint turn of the century mine sits on the banks of Hauser Lake as the Missouri River flows in 'Big Sky Country' - Helena, Montana. Visitors come through the mine digging through the gravel looking for sapphires every day. Today, you can find sapphires in every color at the Spokane Bar Sapphire Mine. The natural Sapphire crystal structure is hexagon with triangle terminations which are often flat. The most commonly found color is green-blue. Blue sapphire is the best known color. Ruby is a red sapphire which is one of the most prized.
Sapphires from 1/2 carat up to 10 carats are fairly common. The largest known sapphire from the Spokane Bar was 155 carats, found by a man from Idaho. Other finds, though uncommon, are diamond, topaz, citrine, and ruby. Garnets of several varieties can be found; the largest on record weighed 40 carats. The largest gem quality sapphire was 50 carats.....................so far....!

To provide better patient access to primary care providers, St. Peter’s Hospital in January 2007 opened a seven-day a week clinic on the north side of Helena at 3150 North Montana Avenue between the Jade Garden and Mackenzie River Pizza.
The clinic offers the full spectrum of family health care with four physicians, nurses, and support staff. Radiology and laboratory services are available and various procedures are conducted at the clinic.
Family Practitioners Jennifer Brunsdon, M.D.; Phil Hess, M.D.; and Paul Donaldson, M.D.; as well as Jennifer Dodge, M.D., who offers obstetrics, will staff the clinic.
New patients are welcome and same day appointments are available by calling 495-6600. Regular hours will be 7:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Thursday, 7:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday, and and 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.
St. Peter’s decision to open the clinic was based on the results of a May 2006 Consumer Survey which indicated the need for more access to primary care physicians and Hospital-based services in the Helena Valley.

About Us... www.komenmontanan.org. The Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation was founded in 1982 by Nancy Brinker in memory of her sister, Susan G Komen, who died of breast cancer at the age of 36.
The mission of the Foundation is to eradicate breast cancer as a life-threatening disease by advancing research, education, screening and treatment. The Komen Montana Race for the Cure raises funds to provide positive awareness, education and early detection of breast cancer for women throughout Montana, as well as helps to fund the National Grants program for the Komen Foundation. The Foundation is the nation's largest private funder of research dedicated solely to breast cancer.
