The Helena Area Chamber of Commerce is now accepting applications for the Leadership Helena Class of 2008–2009. Interest in this class has grown tremendously as past participants share their growth and learning experiences with fellow employees. Leadership Helena is a great experience for anyone who is interested in learning more about their community while at the same time developing their leadership skills and potential. The cost for the program is $750 for Chamber members and $900 for non-Chamber members. A leadership development program designed for Helena area for profit businesses, not-for-profit organizations and government agencies. With an entire generation moving ever closer to retirement, our community is standing on the threshold of dramatic change. The next decade will see the departure of thousands of seasoned leaders, and many are wondering if the next generation is ready to take the reins. Beginning in September 2008, Anderson ZurMuehlen & Co, Ascend Strategies, Inc. and the Helena Chamber of Commerce will bring to Helena the Emerging Leaders Academy – an exciting leadership program designed to grow future leaders. Bill Roberts Golf Course hosted the Chambers 17th annual golf tournament on Saturday May 3rd. Blue Cross Blue Shield sponsored the $10,000 Hole-In-One but no one was able to claim the big prize. Other events at the tournament included a putting contest sponsored by Northwestern Energy and a new venue called Birdie Ball sponsored by the Student Assistance Foundation. The Chamber would especially like to thank tournament chair Toby Shannon from Wells Fargo Bank and committee members Loren Brown, John Hilton, Rena Carlson, Rich Norstrom, Judy Merickel, Sherry O’Donnell, Daryl Cain, Peter Strauss, Jill & Steve Burger and Shaun Shea.
