At a recent Helena commission meeting, AARP Montana proudly presented the City of Helena with the Outstanding Community Partner Award. This recognition celebrates the city’s visionary leadership and unwavering commitment to making Helena an even more age-friendly and livable community for residents of all ages.
This commitment began with the city’s proactive decision to join the AARP Age-Friendly Network. It has since evolved through bold, forward-thinking actions, including the incorporation of age-friendly principles into the newly adopted Helena Forward Land Use Plan. The plan thoughtfully addresses key priorities such as affordable housing, walkability, safe street design, and expanded transportation options. By actively listening to public input and translating community needs into policy, Helena has shown a deep resolve to foster an environment where residents of all ages can remain active, connected, and independent.
“We are incredibly proud to recognize the City of Helena for its visionary efforts to make an already great community even better for residents of all ages,” said Tim Summers, AARP Montana State Director. “AARP Montana extends our deepest thanks to the Mayor, City Commission, City Manager, and especially the Department of Community Development for their dedicated leadership in advancing age-friendly initiatives. Their work is creating lasting benefits that will help every Helenan stay active, connected, and independent for years to come.”
